Chardonnay • Languedoc
Madame Ménard has been created with just the right balance of creamy roundness and zesty citrus bite. It's from old vines grown on prized sandy soils on a small family estate in the Languedoc, so enjoy lovely intensity, too.
For his new 'Madame' Mark discovered another great source of top quality grapes. They are from a small family domaine in the cru Capestang area of the Languedoc, close to the Minervois. The Chardonnay vines are the oldest there and produce wonderfully concentrated fruit thanks to the sandy gravel soils. Night harvesting and early bottling gives the wine underlying freshness, while the malolactic fermentation (as they do in Burgundy) brings a creamy taste and texture. Simply delightful on its own or with seafood, creamy vegetarian dishes or chicken.
Nectarine, quince and pear fruits on the nose with a creamy texture and bright citrus zing and ripe stone fruit.
