Roussanne Vieilles Vignes • Montpellier
As our winemaker describes it, the wine has been“inspired by the alluring and rare Roussannes of Châteauneuf that are revered around the world”. This is what we do at Le Chai au Quai, we produce appellation-busting wines from grape parcels in Southern France.
This Roussanne is from Joseph Bousquet’s vineyards in the hills north of Montpellier. It has taken years of practice and patience, his craft has a magic all of its own, to draw out this amazing quality from his vieilles vignes - legendary 40 year old vines that are famed for their age and intensity. The wine was matured for 24 months in our picturesque wine cellar on the banks of the Dordogne. Daily bâtonnage has allowed the lees to incorporate into the wine to build richness and mouthfeel.
A rounded, textured mouthful with layers of honeysuckle, fresh exotic fruits and a smoky warmth.
