Château du Tertre Belair
Merlot, Cab. Franc • Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux AOC
A classical blend from Saint-Émilion's neighbour, Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux. The truth is, despite the different region, the vines are from the same hills, same soils and same grapes but without the grand name.
Bruno Dellac’s family estate lies in Castillon, on the Right Bank, near Saint Emilion and the Côtes de Francs. Vines planted 30 years ago are now producing grapes of superb intensity, especially thanks to the cool calcaire soils (which are the same as you’ll find in much of Saint Emilion). Good drainage really makes vines struggle to find nutrients and the result is more mineral complexity and flavour in this Merlot-rich wine.
In 2010, such is Bruno’s dedication to perfection, he has turned over most of his vineyards to organic viticulture. His sheer attention to detail and skill have resulted in multiple medals over the vintages. It's no surpise that this lush fruit-filled claret with excellent structure and length, is also challenging the very best with a gold medal of its own. A claret to serve with roasted red meats or a richly sauced casserole.
Ripe, rounded, velvety red fruits with long, deep redcurrants, plums and cigar box notes that draw on through the finish.
